Irvine Valley College’s (IVC) School of Integrated Design, Engineering and Automation (IDEA) serves as a catalyst for innovative career education opportunities at the Advanced Technology and Education Park (ATEP) in Tustin.

Program offerings include design model making, drafting and engineering, electrical technology and electronic technology.

Students will learn in an environment where academic content is accessible in a hands-on context. Located at the ATEP campus in Tustin, IDEA is positioned to become the hub of the college’s Career Education programs.

Integrated Design, Engineering and Automation (IDEA) Building Specifications:

  • Served as a catalyst for IVC’s career education programs, offering innovative and effective technical education through its classrooms, outdoor learning areas, collaboration spaces, technology and infrastructure, and faculty spaces

  • Contains three classrooms and six specialized teaching labs: an alternative energy lab (indoor and outdoor), an optics/photonics lab, an electronics lab, an automation/digital manufacturing lab and an additive and subtractive Design Model Prototyping lab
  • Large central lobby serves as a social corridor for students, faculty and community members
  • Costs for design, construction and equipment: $29.35 million
  • Also home to the college’s Economic and Workforce Development staff

    • L. C. Lee Certified Testing Center:

      • Offers the opportunity to test or certify at our state-of-the-art facility
      • We provide the opportunity for candidates from business, industry and information technologies to become certified professionals in their chosen fields.
    • Electronics Technician Association (ETA) International
      • Certified testing center
      • ETA International issues technical certifications in a variety of technology fields
      • IVC recognized by ETA to provide training for certifications in the following areas:
        • Photonics Technician Operator (PTO)
        • Photonics Technician Specialist (PTS)
        • Technician in Precision Optics (TPO)
        • Specialist in Precision Optics (SPO)
