SOCCCD Vice Chancellor Ann-Marie Gabel Honored with Paul Holmes Facilities Leadership Achievement Award
MISSION VIEJO, CA — The South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) is proud to announce that Vice Chancellor of Business Services Ann-Marie Gabel has been selected as the 2025 recipient of the Paul Holmes Facilities Leadership Achievement Award, presented by the Community College Facility Coalition (CCFC).
This prestigious statewide honor recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to enhancing facilities that support the success of California’s community college students. The award is named in memory of Paul Holmes, founder of the CCFC, who dedicated his life to advancing community college facilities through advocacy, collaboration, and vision.
Throughout her tenure at SOCCCD, Vice Chancellor Gabel has exemplified these same qualities—leading the district’s robust capital improvement program, guiding strategic fiscal management, and ensuring that every investment aligns with the district’s mission of student access and success. Her leadership has supported transformative projects across Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College, and the Advanced Technology & Education Park (ATEP), including modern, sustainable facilities that serve as models for innovation and student engagement.
“Ann-Marie’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the district’s future and ensuring that our colleges continue to provide state-of-the-art learning environments,” said Dr. Julianna M. Asperin Barnes, Chancellor of SOCCCD. “Her integrity, vision, and dedication reflect the very spirit of this award and the legacy of Paul Holmes.”
The Paul Holmes Facilities Leadership Achievement Award celebrates professionals who, like its namesake, have left an enduring mark on California’s community college system. Holmes was known for his advocacy for state funding, his adventurous spirit, and his deep commitment to advancing the infrastructure that supports student achievement statewide.
Past recipients of this award include leaders from districts such as Los Rios, North Orange County, Citrus, and San Mateo County—each recognized for their sustained impact on the community college facilities profession.
Vice Chancellor Gabel’s recognition adds to the South Orange County Community College District’s longstanding reputation for excellence in fiscal stewardship, facilities planning, and student-centered innovation.
