state of the district 2024

MISSION VIEJO, CA The South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) is pleased to announce the inaugural State of the District Address for all faculty, staff, students, and community members.

Board of Trustees President Tim Jemal said, “Over the past year, SOCCCD has seen remarkable accomplishments in various areas, including academic excellence, student success, increased enrollment and community engagement. Our dedicated faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to provide high-quality education and support services to our diverse student body, nearly 50,000. As a board, we set a goal to share this dynamic activity with the community and are proud to host the inaugural State of the District event.”

Through a presentation led by Chancellor Julianna M. Asperin Barnes, EdD and Presidents of Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College, Dr. Elliot Stern and Dr. John Hernandez—the event will entail information that will help inform the audience of the progress and potential of SOCCCD, while shedding light on the unique journeys of students along with the amazing abilities of faculty and staff. Each attendee will receive a printed copy of the District’s annual report and will be the first to view the annual video presentation.

SOCCCD remains dedicated to providing accessible, affordable, and quality education to our community. As we reflect on our accomplishments and challenges, we look forward to a future of continued growth and positive impact.
