MISSION VIEJO, Calif. — The South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) proudly celebrates Trustee Marcia Milchiker for receiving the California Community College Women’s Caucus Legacy Award’s honorable mention as a dedicated advocate for students, faculty, and emerging leaders throughout her service on the Board.
Milchiker stated “The women in the room are the real winners here. It has been the privilege of my lifetime to work beside you in building the culture that transforms the lives of students from every background. They leave ready for great jobs or transfer to their dream schools and professions. We have changed lives forever. I cannot think of anything more important than that.”
The recognition was presented during the California Community College Women’s Caucus Women’s Day Celebration, held March 6, 2026, at Fullerton College. The Legacy Award honors California community college individuals who have significantly supported the advancement, mentorship, and success of women.
“Trustee Milchiker’s leadership reflects a deep commitment to service, opportunity, and the empowerment of others,” said Chancellor Julianna M. Asperin Barnes. “Her advocacy for women in education and public leadership has created pathways for future leaders, and this recognition from the Women’s Caucus is a testament to her enduring impact.”
Milchiker’s years of service extend beyond governance, including her active engagement with statewide and federal policy initiatives that support professionals and students in California’s community colleges. She has helped strengthen partnerships, advance student success, and foster environments where women leaders thrive.
The event brought together community college leaders from across California to celebrate the achievements of women who continue to shape the future of higher education.
