Let Good Nutrition Fuel Your Future

March is National Nutrition Month, and what better way to celebrate than by trying out some new good nutrition habits? And if you find one you like, see if you can make it stick! Here are a few things to try:

  • Spice things up: Try some new herbs or spices in the meals you normally eat to bring out new and different flavors. Try a fruit or vegetable you’ve never eaten each week this month.
  • Get everyone involved: Ask the people you share meals with to help with meal planning this month, and let them suggest some new recipes. Have everyone help with food preparation — even young kids can learn some cooking basics! If your own skills could use some polishing, check out some tutorials online.
  • Give sustainability a spin: Find out what food recovery efforts exist in your community. Try increasing the number of meatless meals you eat — beans, peas, lentils and quinoa are all good sources of plant-based protein that work in a variety of cuisines.

If you’re looking for more ways to take care of yourself this month, National Sleep Awareness Week is March 12-18. Check out the National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep Health Blog for loads of information on the importance of healthy sleep and how to get more of it.
