Chancellor Raghu P. Mathur presented President Wagner with a special plaque to commemorate his service for 2009. 

Irvine Valley College President Glenn Roquemore introduced Coach Tom Pestolesi and representatives of the volleyball team.  They received the American Volleyball Coaches Association, Team Academic Award.

John Edwards, Brandye D'Lena and Roopa Mathur and expressed appreciation for their contributions to the IVC Business Sciences & Technology and Innovation Center which received a Professional Design Awards Program Award of Merit. 

• The Board of Trustees and Chancellor extended their wishes to all for a Happy holiday season. 

• SC President Tod Burnett's written report included mention of: strategic planning progress; President's Club event at A Feast of Lights; Gauchos football team beating College of the Canyons at the Western State Bowl; Chili Bowl and Art Sale was attended by over 200 guests; H1N1 vaccine clinic; and updates from the Office of Instruction, Student Services and the Division of Fine Arts. 

• IVC President Glenn Roquemore's written report included mention of: PROIVC Campaign receiving $117,115 so far in pledges; the musical Fiddler on the Roof breaking all previous attendance and revenue records; The Barre, choreographed by dance faculty member Marie de la Palme, won the Engagement Award at a competition in Palm Desert; and the Model United Nations team won three awards at a fall conference.

• ATEP Provost Randy Peebles' written report included mention of: meetings with CSU Long Beach, CTG Energetics, and James Albert School of Cosmetology; expanded scope of the optics and photonics offerings for the spring semester; and a kick off planning meeting for the 2010 Academic Foundations Summer Institute.

• announcement and recruitment of full time temporary faculty positions at IVC for Spring 2010.

• academic calendar for 2011-12.

• evaluating potential cost savings by alternative placement of property/liability and workers' compensation insurance, and providing the required notice to SWACC (Statewide Association of Community Colleges) and PIPS (Protected Insurance Program for Schools) Joint Powers Authority. SWACC and PIPS require members to provide notice of intention to withdraw no later than six months prior to the end of the current program year.

ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

• In addition to election of officers, the Board made the following appointments: Chancellor Mathur as secretary of the Board and Deputy Chancellor Poertner as assistant secretary; Trustee Williams as representative to the nominating committee to the Committee on School District Organization, and Trustee Milchiker as alternate representative; Trustee Williams as the political action representative to the Orange County School Boards Association, and Trustee Milchiker as alternate representative; Trustee Jay as the liaison to the Orange County Community College Trustees Association; Trustee Fuentes as the representative to the Orange County Legislative Task Force and Trustee Williams as alternate representative; and Trustee Padberg as the representative to the OCTA Stakeholders Working Group for South Orange County Major Investment Study. During the Facilities Corporation special meeting, the Board elected as the Board of Directors: Trustee Wagner as President, Trustee Padberg as Vice President, Trustee Milchiker as Secretary, and Trustee Lang as Treasurer.

The Board meeting will be broadcast on Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12 at 7pm, on Saddleback College Channel 39 and Irvine Valley College Channel 33.  SC TV39 has an additional broadcast on Sunday, December 13 at 7pm.
